Lily watched the girl arrive, wheezing and panting from the exertion. Her face was red, her breathing ragged and uneven, and he4 movements unsteady. She moved to steady her companion as the girl stumbled toward her, but despite the girl's exhausted demeanor, she managed to recover before Lily could intervene, and pushed her way past with a gait that somehow managed to be a confident swagger. She was impressed by the dignity the girl showed, and said matter of factly, "Next time we race you can set the parameters again. If you want a marathon I have some experience with distance running." She said, providing no context beyond that.
She then turned to the bar, following Maegle's line of sight to the strange face this establishment had decided to show it's potential clientelle.
"I am not sure," she admitted as she approached the bar cautiously, but not so cautiously as to arouse suspicion. She could tell immediately that this had been a good choice of bars to infiltrate. It was a multi-story building, and all of it seemed to be owned by Otto's. The front glass of the building boasted of a wine cellar, and as the two approached she could see that there was a set of stairs in the center of the main floor. The upward stair led to a seating area which overlooked the bar and the lower seating area, while the lower stair ended in a door only a few feet down. Her eyes took all of this in, as well as the dozens of people all crowded into the dimly lit room.
"We should find a bathroom once inside, and strategize from there about our next moves." Lily said, her voice strangely serious. "Once we can see more of this place from inside, we can figure out how to make the most of things."
She had never done anything like this before, and while most people may have felt anxious due to the nature of what they were doing, Lily felt anxious for an entirely different reason.
She was enjoying herself. She enjoyed the company of Maegle, and didn't want to disappoint the girl by simply rushing in and making some foolish mistake that might end their fun prematurely. It might be different if she were alone... but she had been told repeatedly by the only authority figure in her life whom she truly respected to stop being alone all the time. She wanted to get this right, but for some reason her hand seemed frozen on the door knob. She looked to Aegle then, trying to gauge her reaction to her plan, and maybe just looking for confirmation that she was ready.
