Rules and Regulations
A Simple Guide
General Rules
1. Be Respectful
This is a common first rule on many sites, and for good reason. This forum is made up of people of many ages, backgrounds, and beliefs- but we're all just here to have a good time. Do your best to be inclusive and welcoming of others, even if you may not necessarily understand them. And...please don't argue with staff.
2. Be Patient
We do not have a minimum word count, nor do we have a maximum time limit on non-event posts. Everyone may, and should, post as they can or as they wish. Once again, we are here to have fun- we want to make this experience as stress-free as possible to all parties involved, but everyone has to accept that not everyone has consistent free time, nor does everyone have the same AMOUNT of free time. This applies to staff as well, not all of us will be on at every hour of every day, nor are any of us infallible. Life can get in the way of this sort of thing, please understand.
3. Be Calm
Arguments can arise in any setting between any people, we understand that. That is no excuse to let that drama to bleed over into the roleplay or the chat box. If you see someone attempting to start such drama, please report it to staff immediately. If a problem arises between users, we encourage them to contact staff so the issue may be resolved with as little noise and damage as possible. We aren't miracle workers, but we'll do what we can to fix things. We promise that.
4. Be Yourself
The name you use OOC in the chatbox must be different from the names of any of your characters. This is mostly to avoid confusion and more easily tie characters to players, but also to establish a more prominent line between IC and OOC. We don't want anyone to take offence to events that happen in threads, and we understand that unexpected things can be a bit upsetting sometimes, but remember- this is all in good fun.
Application Rules
1. One Character, One Account
Each individual character needs their own, separate account. You may not make an OOC account, any organization you need to do in regards to resources or OOC posts can be done from character accounts. We do not have a specific character limit, though characters can be refused should staff believe you have too many, or if your level of activity does not suggest you will be able to give all accounts enough attention. If you wish to delete characters you no longer use to clear room for new ones, you may do so- though if you abuse this privilege, then this may change.
2. Names
We do not subscribe strictly to the naming rules presented by Monty Oum, but we do encourage users to be a bit creative with their character names. Register a character's account under their FIRST NAME ONLY. You may change their screen name to their full name if you wish, but they must be registered under their first name only so staff and other users can consistently tag specific people. Should you desire to use a name that is already registered, you will be asked to change it.
3. Face Claims
All characters are required to use face claims from an animanga source, though you may use original character art if you wish- provided you give proper credit to the artist responsible for the original art of said character AND can provide proof that you've received permission from the artist to use their character as a faceclaim. Being unable to contact/speak the same language as the artist is not an excuse, if this is the case then you must ask their permission in a way they can understand (consult Lieko for help) or find a new faceclaim. Characters from games are also acceptable, provided they have art that fits the animanga style. If you attempt to use a face claim that someone has reserved, or if you attempt to snipe a face claim within a short time of someone else's reservation expiring, you will be asked to change it.
4. Pre-Acceptance and Post-Acceptance
Any posts you make outside the help boards, the pending characters subforum, or the chat box will be deleted if your character application has not been accepted. Once your character application HAS been accepted, we ask that you fill out the face claim form and the mini-profile, in your settings.
Posting Rules
1. 13+ Rated
No explicit sexual content, no excessive violence, and no excessive language. No excuses. We do not explicitly discourage these sorts of things, but if you intend to do such things then you must do so OFF-SITE. Discord is a good platform for this, as is Skype for those of you who still use it. If we find a post that contains this kind of content, the user will be asked to revise it. If the user refuses to do so, we will delete the post ourselves and issue a warning to the user. Repeat offenses will result in harsher punishments, up to and including a permanent ban.
2. Play Fair
Do not godmod, do not powerplay, do not metagame. As with the above rule, such actions will result in the user being asked to revise their post. If the problem persists, harsher punishments will be given. We can understand this can be somewhat difficult for those of you unused to writing in combat-focused scenarios, but it is not allowed.
3. Post Like You Mean It
We expect all our users to use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation in most all circumstances. We understand if you cannot fit this perfectly, nobody on the site will be able to, but we do expect posts that can be read and understood easily. We also, in absence of a minimum word count, expect all posts to have enough substance in them that other people in a thread can play off of them. Anything below two paragraphs is likely not enough. Any solo threads outside of the resource and journal sections will also be deleted.
4. Don't Exploit Loopholes
We are not perfect here on staff, so we will inevitably miss something in the rules, in the lore, in the combat system, or anywhere, really. If you notice one of these flaws, please tell us so that we may patch it up. If someone, or several someones, attempt to use these flaws in the system to give themselves an unfair advantage, no good will come of it. We will catch them, we will correct the results of the abused flaw, and impose a temporary ban on all users who were involved without the chance to state their case.
