Heavy footsteps echoed down tiled hallways as orange light from a sinking sun shone through tall windows, placed at intervals to provide as much natural light to the hallway as possible without compromising the thematic design of the ornate building. A tall, wide man in a black and dark grey suit strode through the halls with purpose, eyes locked on the far end of the hall. His destination was the infirmary, where he knew a certain young woman would be. For the first time in a very long time, Malinov Strannik was both sober and focused without an enemy to fight.
He arrived at the door soon enough, eyes tracing the grain of the wooden door before him as he let out a hesitant sigh. The last time he'd spoken with her, Aegle had left quite an impression on the melancholy drunkard, and after hearing how she'd been in a fight with a monster of Solomon Moon's caliber, he was afraid of what he would find when he opened the door. Flashbacks of his sister's mangled, torn body flashed through his mind. He couldn't face that again. Still, the reports, and testimony of the fight, all stressed that she, as well as the other girl, had survived their encounter with the Black Hand of Atlas without any grave injuries. Reassured by these thoughts, Malinov placed his hand on the door handle and opened the door slowly.
He looked around the room and was greeted by the sight of a beautiful young woman, in her mid-to-early twenties based on his estimate, whom he could vaguely recall as being the nurse that was hired last year after the previous nurse retired. He had not interacted with her enough to remember her name, though, but that was not what was important right now. "I'm here to visit Ms. Vitus," he told her when she asked for his purpose in coming to the infirmary. He'd been informed that she'd awoken a few hours ago, but he had been unable to come any sooner because he was tied up in a series of boring, drawn-out meetings. A part of him worried that she was asleep again and didn't want to bother her.
